Point and Shoot - The Death of photography. A memoir.

It has been another crazy year and to add to the craziness I have decided to write a memoir based on my life experiences. Want to throw your already surreal life into overdrive? This is a road map. Take a look at the Indiegogo campaign I have set up. Thanks for your interest.

Post Dollar Post

So my band 'No $ignal'  played our annual Live show this last weekend at the legendary Silver Dollar Room in Toronto. What started as a dare four years ago resulted in our first public performance at my house on my 50th birthday in January of 2010. About thirty friends came over and we squeaked out 6 songs that evening. My daughters had upstaged us with a song they performed on the piano but it was still playing in front of an audience. We upped the anti the past two years and played our January gig's at Clinton's Tavern. It was great for us to play live in a place like that and make lots of mistakes.  I was getting to do what I used to fantasize as a kid in my bedroom blasting Springsteen songs from my stereo. This years show was of Springsteen proportions. We did a marathon 37 songs
(One short of his record 38 song set list from New Years Eve 1980. We even sang 'Sherry Darling'). The band has come a long way and I think we sounded pretty tight and we all seemed to be having more fun with less anxiety while performing. One of our special guests Suzanne Jarvie performed an original song of hers called 'Spiral Road' which we only got to practice once, and I think it came off really well. We could not have done that last year! I think it is a pretty unique experience for people who have caught some of the shows over the years to see the development and progress of a live show.
The Lost Vegas images are at a one month residency at the Silver Dollar in the back pool room. There couldn't be a more apt space for them to hang than there? What is next ->>>>>

Lost- "Lost Vegas Image"

This is an image taken while shooting the 11 images from the L.V.A.P. series. You can only imaging the stories that have come out of Bingo Bail Bonds ? Jesus Christ. I love this picture. I am going to post some other images from the trip that have grown on me over time.

The Lost Vegas Show at the Silver Dollar.

Just under two months until my band 'No $ignal' play at the legendary Silver Dollar Room in Toronto. The 11 images from the Lost Vegas Art project begin a one month residency at the club that same evening.  It should be a very cool evening. Please come by if you are free...because the show is free also !

The Story of Classic Las Vegas.

I was going over some of the original music written for the Project and some other great songs written about Sin City.  I googled to see if there were any documentaries about old Vegas and I came across this interesting little film at "The Story of Classic Vegas".  Beautiful scenery of Las vegas from the start. I love the quote right at the end "There were a lot of people who had vision and foresight who took a lot of risks and came here and made it happen".  I truly believe I have a great concept and vision for a great show that would rock Las vegas , that celebrates it's influences in music/photography and film. Time to make it happen.

I miss Lost Vegas !

It's been exactly nine months since I last blogged about 'The Lost Vegas Art Project'.  'No $ignal' was preparing to play their annual January concert at Clinton's once again. The show was a blast. The place was packed the band had improved a lot since our first Live performance. We had some legendary Toronto musicians get up and play with us which was very cool of them to do. I have been thinking quite a bit about what direction to take the project from here? The combination of Live music and photography/film makes sense to me right now. I spoke with my friend and legendary rock promoter Dan Burke last week during our annual tennis game and mentioned that I wanted to play a new venue this year for the show and thought that the "Silver Dollar Room" would be a great place to present "No $ignal Live-III-The Lost Vegas Show".  Dates for the show will be posted soon but the plan is to do a Live performance of 4 or 5 of the Lost Vegas songs composed so far combined with an exhibit of the original 11 images at the bar. I will have it recorded and videotaped and then edit a sample of a show I would like to present in Old Las Vegas within the next year. What are the odds ?
